Associated Builders & Contractors Acknowledges MacKenzie Contracting
The MacKenzie Companies is proud to announce that MacKenzie Contracting Company, LLC has been recognized by the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) organization for their work on the AAI Building in Cockeysville and Prometric’s newest testing facility in White Marsh, Maryland.
“This award is a testament to the entire team from whose conceptual vision became a reality. Taking a bland concrete structure and transforming it into a bright functioning office building was nothing short of genius. Not only has a comfortable efficient working environment been created, but an esthetically pleasing exterior to be enjoyed by those who frequent the Cockeysville area,” said Vice President of Business Development Joseph Versey.
MacKenzie’s work at 10150 York Road was awarded the ABC’s Award for Excellence.Known in the community as the AAI Building, the complex renovation project transformed the concrete block building with limited natural light by installing a new larger window line and interior glass walls.The project also addressed roofing and structural upgrades that would enhance the building’s energy efficiency and compliancy with ADA requirements.Working closely with building ownership and existing tenants to perform the work during normal business hours, MacKenzie was able to maintain a clean, safe working environment for the construction team while minimizing the effect of distractions and dirt for the working employees.
Recognized for a merit award, MacKenzie’s work on international testing firm Prometric included the complete demolition of the existing warehouse space and reconstruction of 60,000 sf new class A office space that featured a raised conference room and café, electrical and HVAC upgrades with light harvesting and energy management systems, and new entrance way.The modern design incorporated floor-to-ceiling glass enclosed conference rooms and multiple flooring treatments.
“I am extremely proud of our guys who took a 60,000 sf industrial flex space building and turned it into what I can only describe as a gem. Its strategic use of natural and artificial light, along with the extensive millwork, glass, and complementary finishes make it well deserving of this award,” said Versey.
