Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, Sam Orr, Executive Vice President at MacKenzie Commercial, plays a pivotal leadership role overseeing the firm’s full-service operations in Virginia. Leveraging his extensive commercial real estate experience, Sam leads the efforts to expand Mackenzie’s footprint into the Virginia market covering all asset classes. His multifaceted responsibilities include driving business development initiatives, nurturing client relationships, providing commercial real estate advisory services and collaborating closely with leaders across the various Mackenzie operating divisions.

Upon establishing himself in Washington, DC, Sam rose through the ranks of Boston Properties (“BXP”), the largest publicly traded developer, owner and manager of premier workplaces in the United States, for over 15 years. Sam’s experience at BXP included Asset Management and Leasing for key BXP portfolios encompassing office, flex, and industrial properties in DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.

Most recently, Sam spearheaded the leasing efforts for BXP’s Reston Town Center portfolio in Northern Virginia. There, he served as the principal contact for the office/residential/retail portfolio comprising over six million square feet across 20 buildings. Sam has orchestrated over 200 transactions totaling more than four million square feet, working with a range of clients including small business owners, startups, government agencies, nonprofits, and some of the country’s largest multi-national Fortune 500 firms. The operating portfolios under Sam’s oversight consistently maintained occupancy rates in excess of 95%.

While at BXP, Sam played a vital role in developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives, fostering robust client relations and identifying successful business development opportunities. His comprehensive understanding of underwriting, due diligence, and the closing process solidified his reputation as a trusted industry leader.
