Leading Supplier of Seasonings Breaks Ground on New Headquarter Location
Fuchs North America, part of the world’s largest privately held spice and seasoning company, Fuchs Group, broke ground Tuesday, June 23, 2015 on Route 482 in Hampstead, Maryland. Plans for the 21+ acre site include development of a completely new headquarters facility for the organization. MacKenzie Development Company, LLC is proud to act as developer and project manager for the assignment, led by the firm’s Principal, Robert J. Aumiller. Kinsley Construction will be the design-build contractor.
What began as Baltimore Spice in 1939 in downtown Baltimore, Fuchs North America (FNA) expanded to their current location at 9740 Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills, Maryland in 1959. After major expansions to this facility in 1979 and 2010, the organization’s growing business plans require larger productions. In early June 2015, Fuchs purchased the 21+ acre parcel from the Carroll County Industrial Development Authority. Located in the Town of Hampstead on property zoned for industrial use, the new headquarter facility will contain corporate offices, research and development areas, manufacturing facilities, packaging and storage capacities, and upgraded state-of-the-art equipment for the mixing and blending of specialty spices.
“Working with Fuchs through site selection and due diligence periods for properties in both Maryland and Pennsylvania led us to this perfect location,” stated Bob Aumiller, Principal of MacKenzie Development Company, LLC. “We are honored to be part of the organization’s team and what is considered a historic move for their operations. We look forward to a continued, successful partnership,” added Aumiller.
Regarded as one of North America’s largest and most respected manufacturers of seasonings, seasoning blends, and seasoning systems for the commercial food manufacturing and food service segments, FNA has developed seasonings and systems for a variety of food customers spanning small boutique brands to the biggest multi-nationals. A member The Fuchs Group since 1990, FNA is backed by their world class capabilities and technologies through nine state-of-the-art manufacturing plants located on four continents – Europe, Asia, and North and South America.
According to Dan Cooper CEO of Fuchs North America, plans for a new headquarters facility have been in the works for several years. “Our strong growth and increased demand for our products made it possible to envision a true state-of-the-art facility that enables us to develop, manufacture and deliver customized seasonings and flavor solutions faster and better than ever,” he commented.
Construction of the building is slated to start July 10 – 15, 2015 and take approximately 11 – 12 months to complete.
