Nationally Recognized Planet Fitness Continues Regional Expansions
Planet Fitness, one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of fitness centers in the U.S., has signed a 20,880 square foot lease for a new Harford County location at Aberdeen Marketplace, situated at 1010-1026 Beards Hill Road, Aberdeen, Maryland. MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services’ Vice President Chris Walsh and Real Estate Advisor Mike Gioioso represented the landlord in the transaction. John Schultz, Senior Vice President/Principal of MacKenzie represented the locally owned and operated franchise.
Aberdeen Marketplace is a 103,000 square foot shopping center situated at the intersection of Beards Hill Road and Route 22, approximately one quarter mile off I-95. Planet Fitness will join tenants that include Panera, Rite Aid, Pet Valu, Verizon, PNC, and neighboring Home Depot and Target.
“We are excited for Planet Fitness to join the tenant mix at Aberdeen Marketplace,” stated Chris Walsh. “Their proven success in other local and regional markets will be a great compliment to the center and surrounding trade area.”
Planet Fitness prides itself on providing a high-quality experience at an exceptional value and being home of the Judgement Free Zone®, where members experience a hassle-free, non-intimidating environment. They offer all the amenities of a full-service club with basic membership starting at $10.00 per month.
Having recently celebrated in June in Washington, DC the opening of their 1,000th location, the 20,880 square foot Harford County location is part of the center’s strategic growth plans for Maryland and is scheduled to open this fall. The nationally recognized chain continues to seek sites in the State of Maryland and also the District of Columbia. Working with the owners, MacKenzie’s John Schultz has helped to craft a development strategy that has successfully grown the chain’s presence to include 39 new locations in the past seven years throughout the Eastern United States.
“The Planet Fitness philosophy is one that attracts a dedicated and constantly growing client base,” stated John Schultz. “They are able to serve the demands of major market areas, creating competition among the larger fitness chains by attracting clients who would never have belonged to fitness clubs due to cost and their intimidating environments. I am honored to be part of such a successful operation,” added Schultz.
