Justin Virts Joins MCRES’ Charlottesville, Virginia Regional Office as Real Estate Advisor
Justin Virts has joined MacKenzie Commercial Real Estate Services as Real Estate Advisor in the company’s Charlottesville, Virginia regional office. Formerly with the Washington, D.C. office of Marcus & Millchap, Virts will be working under the direction of Sam Orr, MacKenzie’s Executive Vice President who spearheaded the opening of the office this summer. Former George Washington University Division I head swimming coach Brian Thomas also joined the team recently.
In his new role, Virts will represent the interests of tenants, developers, landlords, and institutional owners in the sale and leasing of all flex/office and warehouse/industrial properties in Northern and Central Virginia. His responsibilities will include navigating site selection, identifying market opportunities, advising on lease and sales negotiations, and supporting the business development initiatives and long-term goals of various stakeholders. Virts will also establish and strengthen relationships within the commercial real estate brokerage community.
Virts brings several years of diversified real estate experience to his position, having also worked as an agent for eXp Realty and Treasure Realty. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Business Administration from American Public University. Virts is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
“Leveraging his military background and training, Justin brings a tremendous work ethic and mental discipline to MacKenzie, and I am extremely confident that he has the real estate background and communication skillset to have a long and productive commercial brokerage career,” stated Orr. “We consider ourselves lucky to have him, and believe his competitive approach and analytical skills will complement and help round out our strong team. I have no doubt that he will completely dedicate himself to this new role and do whatever it takes to be successful.”
Orr adds that MacKenzie continues to recruit professional brokerage talent in its quest to rapidly expand its presence in the Central Virginia commercial real estate marketplace. “Brian Thomas and Justin Virts are examples of the type of individuals we are looking to add,” he said. “They bring incredibly high integrity, are motivated to succeed, and bring an aggressive and professional mindset to our team. Their success will encourage additional brokers to join MacKenzie and share in the rewards.”
Upon opening the new office, Orr referred to Charlottesville as the “tip of the spear” in MacKenzie’s stated goal to quickly expand into the Shenendoah Valley, Richmond and Norfolk, “MacKenzie has a long legacy of excellence, brand name recognition, access to a diverse platform of resources, and most importantly, the chance to work with their outstanding people. Charlottesville is a compact, yet fast-growing market and the region is benefitted by a diverse economy and supported by a highly-skilled and educated workforce that specifically attracts start-ups and major business users.”
MacKenzie intends to employ an aggressive growth strategy, with a goal of adding up to four full-time commercial real estate brokerage professionals and two property management specialists before year-end. The company also hopes to attract two construction management personnel by early 2025.
